It's no surprise we went to another farm. This country girl loves to get out of the city and back to my roots! There are so many local farms a short drive from the city. We frequent Sauvie Island for many activities. Our favorite farm is Sauvie Island Farms. Its a one stop shop. Or should I say pick? They seriously have most everything. Berries, vegetables, tomatoes, corn, all kinds of flowers, herbs, peaches, and pears! I'm sure I'm missing something....
a MUST for u-pick!
Whatever you're making will always taste better with fresh fruits and vegetables! Ill have to admit, I ate most peaches as is.
I'm gonna be real and disclose the fact that I was an upside down cake virgin. I realized I've never have the honor of making one of these beautiful cakes! I've been missing out on this not only easy but quick cake! I of course needed some guidance and looked toward a New York Times recipe https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/6355-peach-upside-down-cake . I definitely recommend it! I'll be making a pear version very soon! I may be making a brown sugar caramel as well.
My recommendation is to be sure you are using a 9 inch cake round. I happened to use a smaller round which caused the need to bake for longer. I lucked out and no burning happened. For all the pacing and worrying I did in my kitchen during the additional 30 minutes of bake time, this cake turned out perfect! I was happy to show up to our ladies night with an edible birthday treat! So, everyone makes mistakes! I'm sure glad I saw this one thru though.
Now take advantage of these cooler mornings and bake your self something incredible!
